Donating to charity is something that many people do. Giving makes us feel good naturally but it’s the authenticity of genuinely wanting to help that has to be transparent. *Cue the generic ‘in these difficult times we find ourselves in through a global pandemic’. I know a lot of people are sick of talking about it, hearing about it and reading about it but the reality is that we’re all in this mess for lack of a better word and it has affected every single industry in the world, some more than others.
One organisation in particular that has been impacted badly are charitable organisations. Statistics from the Institute of fundraising were released stating that 84% of charities reported a decrease or a significant decrease in their income between 23rd March and the 12th of May. Charities need support now more than ever. Now is the time to be innovative and think outside the box in all industries.
Amazon came up with this clever concept of donating to charities called AmazonSmile. The online retailer created a simple and automatic way to support a charity of your choice every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop through AmazonSmile, you’ll find the exact same products, same prices, same service as the Amazon you know and love, with the added bonus that AmazonSmile will donate a portion of the purchase price to your selected charity on your behalf.
So how does it work? Simply go to smile.amazon.co.uk click ‘get started’ input your existing amazon.co.uk credentials. Choose the charity you would like to donate to and start shopping, that’s it! Once you have paid at checkout, AmazonSmile applies an amount to that purchase price on your behalf to the chosen charity. You can also access AmazonSmile in settings on your Amazon App.
