Ken hitting the peaks for Tim
Saturday 6th July weather permitting, will see swimmer, climber, runner extraordinaire Ken Newport carrying the Tim Cogley Cardiac Screening Foundation banner to the top of Mount Blanc.
Rev. Professor Kennith Newport is the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Liverpool Hope University, a Patron of the foundation and regularly runs marathons for the charity. In September 2017 he swam Lake Coniston to raise the profile of the newly launched charity.
The weather is expected to be favourable that weekend, for the 4810 meter climb to the top of Mont Blanc, but, just in case he will have already conquered the mere 4200 metres of neighbouring Gran Paradiso.
Tim’s Dad, Frank who works as an Advisor on Teacher Eduction to Ken, said;
There is nothing this extraordinary man won’t do to support charities and the Foundation is incredibly fortunate to have his support and drive to raise funds for our growing Heart Screening Programme and around the date of the climb, the foundation will be nearing its first peak, 1000 screenings completed.

Update: On the 6th July Kenneth reached the top of Gran Paradiso in the Alps (4061 mtrs). As you’ll see, weather uncertain for attempt at Mont Blanc on the 7th.
