Due to the National Lockdown restrictions being implemented on Nov 5th regrettably Danny has no choice but to postpone the rest of his testing journey from John O’Groats to Lands’ End via the three peaks by foot.
Danny reached the boarder at Gretna Green this afternoon and has had to call a stop to completing the journey as “Overnight stays away from primary residences will not be allowed” as per government guidelines during Lockdown V2. As the fines issued can be more than the money raised to date, it is not logistically possible for us to continue at risk of undoing all the incredible efforts achieved so far.
Danny has raised just shy of his £10k target, a whopping £9,825 (£11.498.75 with Gift Aid). At just over 2 weeks in what an incredible achievement.
Danny has considered the option of completing the rest on a treadmill but as a collective we believe that it takes away from the amazing achievement and challenge that Danny would be facing. For this reason, he has decided to postpone the event and continue it when restrictions have been lifted across the country, whenever that may be. We will keep everyone informed of the decisions as they are made but our understanding is that the country will remain in a tiered framework after the 2nd Dec so when the route is clear right through to the destination Lands’ End, we will reconvene and get the dates outlined for Danny to complete the rest of the journey.
We would like to thank Danny for everything he has achieved over the last 17 days, not only raising an incredible amount of money for the foundation but raising awareness of the vital services that the foundation provides. We can’t wait to join him on the final 28 days and hopefully we will be able to join him to celebrate in Lands’ End, whenever that may be. Tim would be so proud of you Danny, as we all are.
Of course, we will leave the event page open for donations and every penny is greatly appreciated. It’s a massive blow for Danny having to stop at this point so share your thanks and appreciation with him by sparing whatever you can towards an incredible cause.
Thank you again.
